New Mindfulness Resource in all Classrooms

This term, we have been trialling a fantastic new mindfulness resource in all classrooms. The Meadow combines mindfulness breathing, movement and self-soothing touch and builds up the resilience and regulation skills our children so often need to prepare them for today's busy life. We were thrilled to receive the below message from a parent who is already seeing the impact of these sessions in the way her children approach stressful situations. If you would like to know more, please click the link below to try out a session for yourself!

Dear School Office,

I just wanted to highlight the positive impact the mindfulness sessions pupils are having at School are having on my kids in all areas of their lives. They practice the techniques at home and even encourage the adults in our family to use the techniques, taking the time to explain and teach what they have been learning about.

During the inevitable rush to school a few weeks back, I was amazed to have them encourage me to use my imaginary bow and arrow to ‘shoot’ my bad feelings away, or ‘bend’ them into a banana! This was my first experience of them reacting to my behaviour with such a positive and encouraging mindset, which led to immediate problem-solving. What a skill for them to take into the rest of their lives! Amazing!

Please could you pass on my thanks to Mrs Levin and the team for a truly inspired initiative, which is so current, forward-thinking and life-changing for not only pupils but families too- and hopefully for the staff at SMAS too!
