Our Views & Ethos

A very warm welcome to St Mary and All Saints Church of England School.  This is a special place where children are provided with a high-quality education whilst developing and growing the character needed to succeed in today’s modern world.  Our vision statement is “Let our Light Shine, Make a Difference.”

We want all children to be able to be themselves, find their passion and shine their light.  The concept of shining a light comes from Matthew 5:16:

"In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

This is why, as a school, we focus on growing the child first, building their confidence and making them secure in who they are.  We also believe passionately that we want all children to give back to society and the wider world.  This is why we include making a difference in our vision.  It is a central tenet of the Christian faith to be charitable and think of others before yourself.  Our pupils understand this and make a difference outside of the classroom and the school.

We have four values which underpin this vision for pupils.  Respect is the understanding that we want everyone to be treated as we would like to be treated.  Resilience means that we try our best and work hard, persevere through mistakes and don’t give up.  Kindness is incredibly important, we treat everyone we meet with kindness and care, recognising that everyone is equal.  Curiosity is essential to learning, solving the world’s big questions and examining ourselves to become better people.

Please look through our website to find out more about the school, but more importantly, come and visit us.  This is a place where you will be made to feel welcome, free to be yourself, receive a first-class education and grow as a human being.  I look forward to meeting you.
