Our Ethos & Christian Distinctiveness

Letting our light shine and making a difference in everything we do.

Our Ethos & Christian Distinctiveness

At St Mary & All Saints, our Christian character is the foundation of everything we do. As a Church of England school, our heritage shapes our environment, guides our relationships, and inspires our high academic ambitions. We are a living, breathing community where timeless values meet modern education.

Our daily life is guided by our core promise: "Let our Light Shine, Make a Difference."

Deeply Christian, Warmly Inclusive

Following the example of Jesus, hospitality and welcome are at the heart of who we are. We believe that every individual—pupil, staff member, and family—is unique, special, and brings something truly valuable to our school.

Because of this, our Christian character does not exclude. Instead, it creates a deeply inclusive family where children and adults of all faiths, backgrounds, and beliefs are cherished, respected, and given the space to flourish together.

Living Our Motto: "Let Your Light Shine"

We believe our first duty is to help children discover their unique talents, strengths, and passions. By nurturing their personal, emotional, and spiritual growth, we build resilient, confident individuals who are encouraged to share their unique strengths with the world.

Making a Difference: Our School Rules

To help every child feel safe, valued, and ready to learn, our daily behavior and mutual care are anchored by three simple, positive school rules that reflect our core values:

  • Be Kind: We look after one another, show empathy, and treat everyone with gentle consideration.

  • Be Respectful: We value everyone’s voice, look after our environment, and celebrate our differences.

  • Do Your Best: We embrace challenges with curiosity and resilience, always striving to reach our full potential.

Courageous Advocacy

Our values call us to look outward, love our neighbors, and serve others. Through community partnerships and social action, our pupils learn to speak up for fairness, care for the environment, and make a tangible, positive difference in the wider world.

Our Parish Partnership

Our school identity is strengthened by our deep, active partnerships with our local churches, St Mary & All Saints and St Michael and All Angels.

We regularly welcome local clergy into our school to enrich our assemblies and collective reflections, and our school family journeys to our church buildings to celebrate major festivals throughout the year. Through reflection, joyful song, and a commitment to service, we strive daily to be a beacon of hope and light within our community.
