Pupil Premium

At St Mary & All Saints, we want every single child to "let their light shine" and reach their full potential.

Pupil Premium is extra funding provided by the government to help schools support children and ensure they have the same opportunities to succeed as their peers, regardless of their background or family circumstances.

Does My Child Qualify?

The school receives this extra funding for any pupil from Reception to Year 6 who falls into one of the categories below.

1. Free School Meals (Income-Related)

This is the most common reason children receive Pupil Premium. Your child may be eligible if you receive any of the following benefits:

  • Income Support

  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance

  • Child Tax Credit (provided you do not also receive Working Tax Credit and have an annual income under £16,190)

  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

  • The Guarantee element of State Pension Credit

Important Note for Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 Parents: While your child automatically receives a free lunch under the government's Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme, it is still vital that you apply for Pupil Premium if you meet the criteria above. Registering ensures our school receives this valuable extra funding to support your child's learning, and guarantees they will continue to receive free meals when they transition into Key Stage 2 (Year 3 and above).

2. Looked After and Previously Looked After Children

  • Children who have been in local authority care for one day or more.

  • Children who have left local authority care due to adoption, a special guardianship order, a child arrangement order, or a residence order.

3. Service Children

Children of armed service personnel are eligible if:

  • One of their parents is currently serving in the regular armed forces.

  • One of their parents served in the regular armed forces in the last 3 years.

  • One of their parents died while serving, and the pupil receives a pension under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme or War Pensions Scheme.

How We Use the Funding

The government allows school leaders to decide how best to spend this money, as we are closest to our pupils and understand their daily needs. We follow a proven, three-part approach to get the absolute best results for our pupils:

  1. Excellent Teaching: Investing in high-quality training and resources to ensure daily classroom learning is outstanding for everyone.

  2. Targeted Support: Providing extra help, such as small group work, 1-to-1 reading support, or specialized resources for children who need a boost.

  3. Wider Strategies: Helping with the broader aspects of school life, such as supporting the cost of school trips, clubs, and emotional well-being.

Please note: This funding is not locked to individual children. Instead, we pool the resources to fund projects, staff, and equipment that best support the entire group of eligible pupils.

How to Apply (Completely Confidential)

Applying is quick, simple, and entirely confidential. Other families and children will not know who receives this support.

If you believe your child meets any of the criteria above, please collect an application form from the school office, fill it out, and return it to us as soon as possible.
