Sports Premium
Letting our light shine and making a difference in everything we do.
Sports Premium
At St Mary & All Saints, we believe that staying active is essential for a child’s development, happiness, and well-being.
The Primary PE and Sport Premium is government funding allocated directly to primary schools across England to improve physical education and sports. This funding helps us give our children an active start to life, boosting both their physical and mental health, while supporting positive behavior and academic success.
Our Key Objectives
This funding is ring-fenced, meaning it can only be spent on physical education and sports provision. We use it to achieve five key goals:
Daily Activity: Engage all pupils in regular physical activity and healthy habits throughout the school day.
School Culture: Raise the profile of PE and sport across the entire school to drive overall school improvement.
Confident Staff: Build the skills, knowledge, and confidence of our teachers and staff to deliver exceptional PE lessons.
Varied Experiences: Offer a broader, more exciting range of sports and physical activities to all pupils.
Competitive Sport: Increase opportunities for our children to take part in competitive sports and tournaments.
How We Invest the Funding
We focus on making sustainable improvements that will benefit our current pupils and leave a lasting legacy for future year groups. The premium is used to:
Introduce new, exciting sports and activities to make PE lessons enjoyable for everyone.
Provide professional development, expert coaching, and high-quality training resources for our teaching staff.
Invest in new, updated sports equipment for lessons and playtime.
Run and maintain a vibrant variety of after-school sports clubs.
Embed physical activity into the structure of the standard school day.
The Positive Impact on Our Pupils
Staying active does more than just build physical fitness. We see firsthand how this funding transforms our school community by:
Building Friendships: Strengthening peer relationships through team sports, collaboration, and clubs.
Reducing Stress: Boosting physical fitness while lowering anxiety and stress levels.
Inclusivity: Empowering children who might normally distance themselves from sports, giving them the confidence to try new activities and feel deeply valued.
