Secondary Admissions & The 11+ Process
As our pupils grow in Resilience and Curiosity, we work hard to prepare them for the next exciting chapter of their education. The transition to secondary school is a major milestone, and we are committed to supporting both our pupils and their families every step of the way.
The Buckinghamshire 11+ Selection Process
Living in Buckinghamshire, children have the opportunity to take the Transfer Test (11+) in the Autumn Term of Year 6 to determine eligibility for a grammar school place.
Preparation & Support: In line with local authority guidelines, we ensure all Year 5 children are registered for the test automatically (unless parents choose to opt-out). We provide familiarisation sessions in school to ensure children feel confident, calm, and prepared.
The Test: The practice and actual Transfer Tests take place during the first few weeks of the Autumn Term in Year 6.
Results: Results are typically released in mid-October, allowing families to make informed decisions before the secondary school application deadline.
For comprehensive details on the Transfer Test timeline, registration, and familiarisation materials, please visit the Buckinghamshire Council Transfer Test Information Page
Choosing and Applying for a Secondary School
The window for choosing a secondary school opens in September and closes at the end of October during your child's Year 6 year.
Research: Attend secondary school open evenings during September and October.
Preferences: You can list up to six secondary school preferences on your local authority application form.
National Offer Day: National Secondary Offer Day takes place on 1st March (or the next working day), when your child's allocated secondary school is revealed.
Our Promise: We maintain excellent partnerships with all local secondary schools—both upper/comprehensive and grammar schools. Once places are allocated, we host extensive transition projects and coordinate closely with secondary staff to ensure a seamless, happy move for every child.
